Starbucks has quietly abandoned its AI-powered inventory management system from NomadGo, just nine months after rolling it out across 11,000 stores, according to an internal newsletter obtained by Reuters.

The trial, which began in September 2025, aimed to improve inventory accuracy and speed. The tool boasted 99% accuracy and could count stock eight times faster than a human. However, by May 2026, the company decided to discontinue its use.
